Feasibility Study Update

1. Stakeholder and community meetings were held April 3 and 4. The consultants spent April 2
talking to staff and visiting both city and non-city facilities.
2. Meetings were held separately with service providers, the medical community, schools
(including MSU), non-profits, service clubs, user groups, swim clubs, and the county.
3. The public meeting consisted of a PowerPoint presentation introducing the consultants,
explaining the feasibility study process and showing examples of community recreation
centers and specific components. Community members were then broken into groups to
play a card game that helped facilitate conversations about what they would like to see in a
community center.
4. A community survey is being developed. We have reviewed the first draft and made
comments that will be discussed with the consultants. The YMCA has raised money to
expand the study area to include surrounding communities.
5. Projected study completion is end of June.
