Members Absent: Jason, Rebecca, Sarah, Sam Others Present:John V., Carson A. Call meeting to order B. Introductions • Mike Davis new board member, replacing Bill Bartlett o Make sure to add Mike to list-serve and on BABAB list C. Public Comment- None D.Approval of May Minutes • May minutes approved • July Agenda: Next meeting is Wed, July 11th! o remove Allen o Bike Friendly Rating o Should we/could we do a newsletter? see Helena's example (Walt, Nonnie, etc.) 0 2012 Budget- bike infrastructure. Do we need to do anything? Budget results o Parks and Trails: official letter of support, do we need to do? o Bike Week thank yous E. Recap/Debrief of Bike to Work Week • 400+ on BABAB list-serve now (including Bike Challenge participants) o Need/want to use these names for upcoming initiatives • Tax write-offs are possible (see email). o Send email to Board/Brian Hughes asking about tax write-off • Brian was unhappy about the poster because Gherrig gave a lot more money but were not in the top tier. Always an issue, every year. • Bill would like to better integrate adult and kid events • Bike Commuter Challenge o Have one day in the week and have businesses sponsor breakfast/pancake feed. Want to celebrate their participation. Ask business to sponsor or give money for the breakfast • Some members want to require mug & helmet to get second raffle ticket, for next year • Dinner was great, but attendance low. o How to get higher attendance at the party? • What about asking GVBC to put on the party? • Ask a lead member to communicate with us. • Had $340 for the donation to the dinner o Officially, when get money from the event, money has to go to the city first, then they pay the people, such as Jawbone, Doug • Consider having at Beall next year. • Promote party better! • Think about how to better/more involve the bike teams G. Kagy and 7th • Pedestrian activated signal. Cost: $8500. On agenda for July. Solar powered 8501. Might be up before count/school starts up. H. Old Business • Willson needs to be built right with new curbs • 8th- spending $30k per year just maintaining the street. Will be done end of summer • City budget is coming up (June 18th): plan is to spend money on one of our top three roads, including 23rd, etc. o If$ for this are in jeopardy, Carson will try and let us know. I. New business • Parks and Trails Bond- BABAB is in support of using our list-serve • Bike/Walk Montana is developing/coming • Next meeting: July, Wed 11. o Need to see if room is available. Audrey is not available. • To meet Parks &Trails applicants: Tuesday 5:30 on June 12th in commissioner's room • Still need to apply for rating for Bicycle Friendly Community • Bill feels that we won't get a rating, but will apply anyway (working with Taylor Lonsdale and Cathy Kostakis on this) • Missingdittle to no training for bike safety available, abike lanes/miles of road, no training, no additional "teeth". • When we get "rejected" (if we get rejected), we can go to them with what we are missing and ask for those things. • Deadline: end of June/early July • For next year, we should talk about our Bike Friendly Community (if we have it or not) as our Bike Week talking points. • Does Helena have a rating? • Bill is interested in certification to do trainings- we need more these for rating • Can we get some bike-related training through Driver's Ed: can you add street use education (bike and pedestrians). Would need to talk to schools. J.Adjournment
