HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-12 Park Report Park Report May 2012 A Operationally, crews are hitting the ground running, with this being the busiest time of year. Grass is growing, teams are out on all the fields, the public is happy again to be out in the parks and on the trails and until Monday, we had no seasonal staff. ➢ As for the seasonal staff, we are fully hired, with 14 seasonal employees, all of whom are being trained in their perspective areas. ➢ Park Improvement Grant projects are under way. The beginnings of a drinking fountain at Bogert and infield renovations at Aasheim field have occurred. ➢ I presented to the City Commission the User Fees action item Monday night. The recommendation passed 4-0, On to something new, Y` In the works are a "Rail bank" for the Story Mill spur trial and a potential bike park up at the landfill in the area that has never been developed. More to come on these. ➢ On project we are working on is a full court concrete basketball court at the Bozeman Pond. This project is collaboration between the Optimists and the City Parks Division. ➢ This weekend is the first ever youth and Middle school girl's lacrosse game held in Bozeman. With Bozeman hosting Missoula. These games will be played in the outfield at Christie Fields, thanks to baseball for their cooperation. Yet it goes back to........................... we are running out of space and we are starting to feel it. ➢ On a related note- the lacrosse folks are out at Lerner Park in Meadow Creek, it is about a 3 acre park, that turns out to be a swamp every time it rains- it floats- I wonder if that is why that area was "dedicated" as park land.
