The development of a Community Transportation Safety Plan is a community-led planning effort that brings together local safety partners to work together to address their safety issues. The planning process includes analysis of crash data to identify safety issues and review of best practices strategies to find solutions. The overall goal of the program is to reduce the number and severity of serious and fatal crashes within our communities. Police Chief Price and Fire Chief Megaard are supportive of this effort. Shelby/Toole County has recently completed their Community Transportation Safety Plan and Butte-Silver Bow and Hamilton have initiated the development of their Plans. Information on these plans can be found at http://www.mdt.mt.gov/safety/plans-programs/community- plans.shtml. Benefits. There is a benefit to the community and our safety partners by working together to develop a Community Transportation Safety Plan. By collaborating, efforts, time and resources can be pooled and safety issues can be more efficiently addressed.
