HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-19-12 letter from Debbie Arkell re: retiring from Gallatin Solid Waste Management District CITY OF BOZEMAN Bozeman, Montana soZ v qx 1N Co.!ti March 19, 2012 Mr. Steve White, Chairman Gallatin County Commission 311 West Main Street Bozeman, MT 59715 Dear Steve: This is to notify you that, in preparation of my upcoming retirement, I will be resigning my position on the Gallatin Solid Waste District Management Board effective June 1, 2012. This will create a vacancy of the City of Bozeman position on the Gallatin Solid Waste Management District Advisory Board. Per the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City and County Commissions, the City of Bozeman is provided one position on the Advisory Board. The MOU specifically states the County"will accept a member appointed by the City". However, as advised by Chris Grey of the Country Attorney's office, the County must satisfy its statutory requirements pursuant to the 2009 amendments to the law as well as other county related statutes (SB57). Based on this process, upon receipt of this notice of vacancy, a 30-day notice clock starts where they county must advertise the position. As with our last vacancy, Mr. Grey indicated any inquiries the County gets for the position in this 30 day period will be referred to the City. Please refer those inquiries to me. At the end of the 30 day period the City will send its appointment to the County Commission. Mr. Grey indicated the County would in turn"accept"the appointment and formalize it in a public meeting. Please contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Debra H.
