Police Activity Report—Sgt. Travis Munter
There has been a large increase in vehicle break-ins. The BPD reminds people to remove
items of value from vehicles. People should report any incidents so the Police
Department can establish patterns. So far, the occurrences have been very widespread
around town.
The Department is at its highest level of staffing ever. Two new officers are at the
Montana Law Enforcement Academy and will be done in two to three weeks. There are
two more preparing to go, and there is one more in the pipeline after that.
The increase in staff will allow for dealing with issues more proactively.
There was an assault on N. 25th this morning, with a gun involved. The suspect
committed suicide on the way to Billings.
Gary asked about hiring—the target is 65, and the department is at 61, with two new
employees joining this month. There are one or two more in the application process.
Although mills were levied to pay for the staff, the mills are not assessed until people are
hired.
There were more questions in the area near Lindley Park about the registered sex
offender living there. Can neighborhood get copies of a flyer to distribute in the area?
The information is public—the neighborhood association can retrieve it from the web site
and create a flyer.
There was no Fire Department update.
7:24 Quorum in attendance—officially called meeting to order
We had a discussion about possibly merging the Bridger Creek and Bogert Park
neighborhood associations. This might be viable, since several issues affect both groups.
