HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-15-12 Senior Citizens Advisory Board Minutes MINUTES The City Senior Advisory Board Meeting, Bozeman, Montana February 15, 2012 • Call to Order— Madison Room, City Hall, 121 N. Rouse. The President called the meeting to order at 1:15 PM. • Present: Fran Shellenberger, Secretary; Mayor Sean Becker, Martha Drysdale, Susan Lear, Peggy Tombre, Bernie Warwood • Changes to the Agenda. o Added: Discussion of the Board's meeting with the MSU ADA Advisory Board February 9, 2012. • Public Comments. None. • Minutes: Ms.Tombre MOVED to approve the January 2012 Minutes. Mr. Dreyer SECONDED.The vote to approve was unanimous. • The President introduced a guest, Lonnie Lear, who volunteered to serve as a nonvoting member representing the Bozeman Senior Center. • Election of Officers: Postponed to March meeting. • 2012 goals: o Improve access in public places. ■ Obtain benches for Sweet Pea o MSU • Access to facilities campus-wide. • Status of obtaining an MSU liaison and/or intern. • Status of Family Academy at MSU Dept of Health and Human Development • Promote Bozeman and MSU as a site for the Governor's Conference on Aging • Prepare paragraph regarding Montana population demographics for use in the Board's written materials. • Increase awareness of Bozeman's present and potential value as a desirable retirement location; • Increase awareness of the value of the senior population to the city and state economy: ■ Develop criteria for 'senior friendly' designation and find ways to recognize local businesses for their efforts. • Status of additional parking spaces for Senior Center. • Follow-up status of Fairground gate for access to new parking spaces during lunch hour Monday-Friday and evening events; • Suggest feasibility of using Greenwood Apt. spaces during daytime hours. DONE "Making Bozeman the Most Senior Friendly City in Montana" ■ Status of reviewing Tamarack neighborhood for street improvements, including parking. • Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 2:30 PM.
