REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission

SUBJECT: 1-12-2012 CAHAB Recommendation -Haggerty Lane Apartments—
Farmhouse Partners Limited Partnership's request for a letter of support from
the City to the Montana Board of Housing (Low Income Housing Tax Credit
Program)
MEETING DATE: January 17, 2012
At the January 12, 2012 meeting of the Community Affordable Housing Advisory Board (CAHAB),
the request from Farmhouse Partners Limited Partnership (Farmhouse Partnership) for a letter of
support of the group's application to the Montana Board of Housing for low income housing tax
credits was reviewed.
William C. Dabney III reviewed his proposed project and supporting information. (CAHAB members
received the same 12-21-11 letter of request and supporting materials that were forwarded to the City
Commission). Mr. Dabney indicated that, as of today, there are no vacancies at any of the 500 units
that his company manages. The units will be of a smaller scale (i.e. four-plex buildings) to fit into the
cottage neighborhood that has been established on the property. Management and maintenance will be
performed by his existing Comstock Apartments staff down the road. One member of CAHAB
indicated that his other existing rental units are modern, clean and had nice appliances. Another
member of CAHAB asked about building exteriors for this project and Mr. Dabney indicated they
would be "hardiplank". It was agreed that was a good material choice for durability.
A motion was made and seconded to recommend to the City Commission that a letter of support
for the Farmhouse Partnership tax credit application for the Haggerty Lane Apartments be
supplied by the City as requested. The motion passed unanimously.
