COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 2535
A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN, MONTANA, IN MEMORIAM TO ARNOLD M. SWANSON
AND TO EXTEND CONDOLENCES AND SYMPATHY TO THE
FAMI L Y AND FRI ENDS OF ARNOLD M. SWANSON.
WHEREAS, Arnold M. Swanson, former City Commissioner and former Mayor
of the City of Bozeman, Montana, died on Wednesday, November 21, 1984; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Swanson has maintained permanent residence in Bozeman
since 1926 and has been an outstanding citizen of the community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Swanson served the City government of Bozeman with unusual
dedication and distinction, being appointed to the City Commission in September
1954 to complete the unexpired four-year term of J. Harry Healy and being elected
to a subsequent four-year term commencing in January 1958; and serving as Mayor
of Bozeman from January 1956 through December 1957 and from January 1960 to
December 1961; and
WHEREAS, Arnold M. Swanson served the City well and performed his duties
in an exemplary manner; and
WHEREAS, he had many civic affiliations, demonstrated by his participation
in the Bozeman Petroleum Dealers' Association; Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce;
Elks' Club; Rotary; Bozeman Lodge No. 18, AF&AM; Chapter 4, Order of the Eastern
Star; Scottish Rite in Livingston and as a member of the Algeria Shrine.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY

OF BOZEMAN herewith extends its most sincere condolences to the family and friends
of Arnold M. Swanson in this, their hour of bereavement; and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Commission is herewith
instructed to convey this measure to Mr. Swanson's fami Iy and to officially record
this resolution in the minutes of the regular meeting of the City Commission on
the 26th day of November 1984.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission at a regular session thereof
held on the 26th day of November 1984.
