HomeMy WebLinkAbout(Re)Appointments to the Bozeman Area Bicycle Advisory BoardCommission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Aimee Kissel, Citizen Advisory Board Coordinator Stacy Ulmen CMC, City Clerk SUBJECT: (Re)Appointments to the Bozeman Area Bicycle Advisory Board MEETING DATE: December 19, 2011 MEETING TYPE: Action RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint Jenna Fallaw and reappoint Bill Bartlett, Rebecca Gleason and Elizabeth Williamson to the Bozeman Area Bicycle Advisory Board. BACKGROUND: Five terms on the Bike Board expire December 31, 2011. Three members have reapplied and one new application has been received. If all applicants are appointed, the board will have one vacancy for a High School student. The Bozeman Area Bicycle Advisory Board (BABAB) was created by the City Commission in September 1990 (Resolution No. 2817). Its purpose is to recommend safe bicycle practices, in regard to enhanced bicycle circulation and design, community-wide bicycle education and safety programs, and other matters relating to bicycling in the Bozeman area. As amended by Ordinance 1795 the board shall consist of up to eleven members who will serve two year staggered terms. One member shall be a student of Montana State University, one shall represent Gallatin County. Each member may be reappointed without any limitation on the number of reappointments. Members must be of legal age. In addition, one non-voting liaison shall be a student of Bozeman High School. A majority of the board shall be residents of the city. Non-resident members of the board shall have some interest in the city by virtue of working in the city, owning property in the city, or entering the city frequently for any lawful purpose. In addition, the members should be knowledgeable of bicycling and/or traffic safety in the Bozeman area. This board has five terms expiring, 3 reapplying members and one new applicant. PLEASE NOTE: Per Ordinance No. 1759, revising Chapter 2.01 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, all board members are required to attend a yearly ethics workshop provided free of charge by the City as a condition of service as a member of a board. 419 420 421 422
