Recreation Department Report

1. We have seen an increase in program participation from October to November. New this year,
parents night out, one in November and one in December. We provide dinner and 3 hours of
activities for the kids. Fun and affordable! $15 City Residents/$20 Non-City. Age 3-10.
2. Getting ready to post winter seasonal jobs to help with programs, including ice skating
3. Training begins next week for our new registration and reservation software system, online
registration will be available with the new software, making registration more convenient for
the public and less staff intensive.
4. Working on adult fee proposal. Have talked to many parks and recreation departments across
the state to see how their fees are determined.
5. Getting bids for a new deck on the Lindley Center. Will provide a space for outdoor seating and
will be more appealing to renters. Can be used for recreation programs as well.
6. Reviewing proposals for the feasibility study,we received 12 and have it narrowed down to
three.
7. We are working with the Friends of the Avalanche Center to offer a Beacon Park in Beall Park;
this will be year 2 of the park, it was a success last year. It will be open 7 days a week,free to
the public,we will partner with the Avalanche Center to offer avalanche awareness talks and
beacon practice at the park throughout the winter.
