Bozeman City Senior Advisory Board
"Making Bozeman the Most Senior Friendly City in Montana"
October 12, 2011
Bozeman City Hall, 121 N. Rouse, Bozeman, Montana
PRESENT: Norm Dreyer, President; Fran Shellenberger, Secretary; Sean Becker, Deputy Mayor;
Susan Fay Smith; and Peggy Tombre.
Mr. Dreyer MOVED and Ms. Tombre SECONDED the approval of the Minutes of the August 3,
2011 meeting.
Public Comments. NONE.
The status of the 2011 goals was discussed:
Improve access in public places.
MSU facilities.
Sweet Pea/benches
Report status of obtaining an MSU liaison
Status of Family Academy at MSU
Promote Bozeman and MSU as one of three sites for the Governor's Conference
on Aging
Recruit additional members for the Board
Member from Senior Living facilities
Nominee from Senior Center
Letters of invitation to area senior entities
Review Montana population demographics.
Increase awareness of Bozeman's present and potential value as a desirable retirement
location
Increase awareness of the value of the senior population to the city and state economy
Review status of acquisition of Assisted Listening Device for City Hall.
The Assisted Listening Device has been installed in the Commission Meeting
Room.
Status of additional parking spaces for Senior Center.
Additional parking places have been prepared on the grounds of the County
Fairgrounds across from the Senior Center.
Status of reviewing Tamarack neighborhood for street improvements, including parking,
Sean Becker. Pending.
Alternative Locations for Board Meetings.
The Board will meet in the Commission Room to take advantage of the
availability of the Assistive Listening Device.
The next meeting will be held November 2, 2011, 1:15 PM, in the Commission Room at City
Hall.
