Uhaul - Public Access Easement Sidewalk Infill –

RECOMMENDATION: Authorize City Manager to sign Public Access Easement for Uhaul
property fronting N. 7th
Avenue for the installation of public sidewalk.
BACKGROUND: On September 26, 2011, the City Commission approved an amendment to
the North 7th
Avenue Urban Renewal Board (NSURB) FY12 Work Plan and Budget. The amendment provided a grant up to $50,000 to reimburse Amerco Real Estate Company (Uhaul) for frontage improvements which include a landscaped boulevard and sidewalk.
One stipulation of the grant agreement which references Sketch Plan #Z-11267, required Uhaul
to provide a public access easement for all proposed sidewalk being installed. Engineering staff has reviewed the public easement and find it acceptable. The attached easement will now allow for the construction for all contracted sidewalk and improvements along North 7th
.
UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission
FISCAL EFFECTS: City Commission has already approved a grant up to $50,000 to reimburse Uhaul to install sidewalk and a landscape boulevard on their frontage of N. 7th
Avenue. There is no additional cost for this easement outside of the previously approved grant.
