RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution 4343establishing the Commission’s intent to
consider an amendment to Figure 3-1 of the Bozeman Community Plan and setting a public
hearing date of October 10, 2011.
BACKGROUND:
The City adopted its current growth policy in the summer of 2009. One of the
elements of the document is the future land use map, Figure 3-1, which shows how the various
types of land use designations are geographically located in the community. An application has
been submitted to amend Figure 3-1 at the southeastcorner of South Cottonwood Road and
Huffine Lanefor approximately 20 acres. The property is currently planned as residential and the
application requests community commercial mixed use.
The Commission must pass a resolution of intent to amend the growth policybeforethey may
consider any changeto the growth policy. The Planning Board will consider the matter at their

September 20meeting. The item is presently scheduled to be considered by the Commission at
th
the October 10meeting. To continue thisschedule, Resolution 4343 is presented for your
consideration and action.
If the Commission does not wish to consider the applicationthen do not pass the resolution and
review of the application must stop.

None
FISCAL EFFECTS:
None at this time
ALTERNATIVES:
1) Approve the resolution.
2) Do not approve the resolution and the application review will be terminated.

RESOLUTION NO. 4343
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA,
STATING THEIR INTENT TO CONSIDER AN AMENDMENT TO FIGURE 3-1OF THE
BOZEMAN COMMUNITY PLAN.
WHEREAS,
the City of Bozemanhas had a comprehensive plan (growth policy) since 1958,
and
WHEREAS,
the City of Bozemanadopted its growth policy known as the Bozeman Community
Plan (BCP) through Resolution 4163 on June 1, 2009, and
WHEREAS,
the City of Bozemanadopted its most recent amendments to the growth policy
known as the Bozeman Community Plan (BCP) through Resolution 4195on August 3, 2009, and
WHEREAS,
the Bozeman City Commission establishes criteria for the amending of the
document,and
WHEREAS,
an application has been received to amend Figure 3-1 the future land use map of
the growth policy, and
WHEREAS,
the City of BozemanPlanning Board will conduct a public hearing on the
application onSeptember 20, 2011,and
WHEREAS,
in accordance with 76-1-602, MCA, the City Commission must conduct a public
hearing prior to taking any action to adopt or revise a growth policy,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman,
Montana, that:

In accordance with the requirements of Section 76-1-604 MCA,the intent to consider the
application for amendment andpossible correspondingrevisionsto the growth policy is hereby stated.
Section 2
That a public hearing be set and advertised forOctober10, 2011for the purpose of receiving
public testimony on P-110003, the Crescent Cross growth policy amendment application and possible
related revisions to Figure 3-1of the Bozeman Community Plan.
