HomeMy WebLinkAbout(Re)Appointments to the Building Board of AppealsCommission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Aimee Kissel, Deputy City Clerk Stacy Ulmen CMC, City Clerk SUBJECT: (Re)Appointments to the Board of Appeals MEETING DATE: September 19, 2011 MEETING TYPE: Action RECOMMENDATION: Re-appoint one member and appoint one new member to the Board of Appeals. BACKGROUND: On December 31, 2010 one term on the Board of Appeals expired. There are also three ongoing vacancies, preventing this board from having a quorum. The member with an expired term has re-applied; and one other application has been received. The Board of Appeals was established under Commission Resolution No. 2483, adopted October 3, 1983 to determine the suitability of alternate materials and methods of construction and to provide reasonable interpretation of the following codes of the City of Bozeman: Building Code, Electrical Code, Mechanical Code, and Plumbing Code. The Board of Appeals shall consist of five members appointed by the City Commission and serving without compensation, which are qualified by experience and training to pass upon matters pertaining to building construction. The Building Official shall be an ex officio member and shall act as Secretary of the Board. Appointments are for a period of three years. This board has three ongoing vacancies and a recently expired term with one re-applying applicant and one new applicant.
