HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-11, Park Dept. Report.pdfPark Report June 2011
We are busy keeping up with the current flooding situations in the
parks and on the trails. The most current information is on the City’s
website. One of the things we are watching for is on the trails and the
ever changing conditions. What we are trying to avoid is someone
becoming isolated.
We have hired on our seasonal crew, we have purposely not hired a
full seasonal staff due to budget concerns. I mentioned last month
that Parks/Cemetery was going to a seven day work week that starts
Sunday June 19th.
Crews are increasingly busy with dog stations, garbage and trying to
keep up with the mowing between storms. Crews haven’t had the
opportunity to get out and spray anything yet, though.
User groups are using city fields and facilities: Bronken (soccer),
Aashiem, Kirk and Christie (baseball), N. Grand (girl’s fastpitch), The
Complex (adult softball) and Bogert Pavilion had its first Framer’s
Market Tuesday.
We are working with the Optimists out at the Bozeman Ponds to
install a swing set, small playground and a climber just east of the
pavilion.
We are scouting out a location for the 5th climbing boulder, which has
been tentatively placed at Rose Park, which might not be the best
place after going out there and assessing the area and potential
development.
I have started the process of user assessments with the groups and
have had mixed results
Ron and I had a meeting with GVLT today and we went over some
active and upcoming projects, along with annual maintenance and
trail improvements as well. Park crews staged all the fines and trail
material which helped make “National Trails Day” a success.
A lot of interaction with HOA’s in regards to responsibilities, etc…
