Huff ine Shared-Use Pathway — Bozeman,( CTEPp.roject) RPA PROJECT NO.: 08506,000 CHANGE ORDER NUMBER: 02 CTEPPROdECT NO.: DATE OF CHANGE ORDER. April 27,2011 CONTRACT DATE: September 3, 2010 / Notice to Proceed: October4,2010. Proiect is Currently in Winter Shutdown with Anticipated Work Starting Up May 2, 2011 (Sublect to Weather Conditions) OWNER: City of Bozeman CONTRACTOR: Duneman Construction. Inc. Change orders must be accompanied by an itemized cost breakdown, ia: unit prices, megodabad lump sonn prices, negotiated cost plus basis. Note all cost plus pricing to be supported by documentation which supports the cost of that item - Item Description Quantity Unit Unit Pric e Amount Basis of Unit Price Number 1 Relocate Pull Box From ADA 1 LS $7,200,00 +$7,200.00 Negotiated LS Cost Curb RaR Additive Alternate No I Work JUSTIFICATION OF CHANGE ORDER* Khsm 1: During construction, the work uncovered a buried o|motrioa| pull box at the corner of Ferguson Avenue and HuMine Lane. The puil box is in confilct with the proposed curb and gutter and ADA pedestrian ramp. The Contractor has coordinated with numerous potential electrical subcontractors to obtain a cost estimate with limited success over the course of the winter shutdown. The original proposal of $17,536,25 by another electrical subcontractor was rejected as excessive. The City since supplied the Contractor with a list of contractors that they usually send requests for signal work, C>[ those, it was noted that Gallatin Electric does a good job and ioreasonable. Gallatin Electric has thoroughly eopped the work with MDT and provided this second quote. The pull box will be relocated ~25^ out mf the street. The work includes trenching, new conduit, approximately 1,000' of signal cable for loop sensors, re-using pedestrian pole cable, and new ground. In coordination with MDT, the acceptable traffic control would be candies along the shoulder of Huffine Lane, Full lane closure would likely not benecessary. Item 2: This Change Order will eliminate the bid Additive Alternate No. 1 in its entirety. The proposed work, if constructed, would traverse thru a park area on the Montana State University (MSU) campus, of which MSU would have to perpetually maintain. The widened path, if constructed, would not fit the purpose and need for the park area. |ne0axd, it is desired byyNSU to leave the narrower, existing sidewalk in place; that is and will remain to be suitable to meet K4SU'o purpose and need, Likewise, eliminating construction of this item would eliminate concerning impacts to park trees and shrubbery.
