COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 3439
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, ESTABLISHING A RATE FOR COMPOST PURCHASED FROM THE
CITY OF BOZEMAN'S LANDFILL COMPOST PROGRAM
WHEREAS. the City of Bozeman has recently established a compost program which uses
certain types of solid waste thus diverting it from the landfill; and
WHEREAS, it is in the City's best interest to use, market and sell the compost rather than
put it back into the City's landfill in part to extend the life of the landfill;
and
WHEREAS, the City incurs costs in the development of the compost including but not
limited to the cost of equipment, equipment maintenance and labor; and
WHEREAS, a recent market survey indicates the local compost market can withstand
another composting business without adversely impacting local businesses; and
WHEREAS, it is in the City's best interest to establish rates for the compost which is
competitive with but does not undercut other local composting retailers; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman,
Montana, that the rates for the purchase of compost from the City of Bozeman's
landfill shall be

Small Volume
Large Volume
Homegrown RS Compost $0.70 28#/5 Gal
$50.00/ton
Natural Cover Mulch $0.25 11 #/5 Gal
$20.00/ton
Delivery (City limits only)
$40.00
The rates established herein shall become effective immediately.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, at
a regular session thereof held on the 23rd day of April 2001.
