SUBJECT: Appointment to the Cemetery Advisory Board
MEETING DATE: June 13, 2011
AGENDA TYPE: Action
RECOMMENDATION: Appoint one new member to the Cemetery Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: There is currently one vacancy on the Cemetery Board with a term
expiration date of December 31, 2013. Two new applications have been received. Both of the
applicants are residents of the City. The Board reviewed the applications during their May 26th
meeting and recommended the appointment of Karlina Popwell.
2.76.030 There is created a Cemetery Board consisting of seven members to be appointed by the
City Commission for three year staggered terms. A majority of the members shall be residents
of the City, and whenever practicable one member shall be a representative of an active
recognized veteran’s group.
The Board is advisory to both the City Commission and the Director of Public Service, making
recommendations regarding operation of the Sunset Hills Cemetery.
There is one vacancy and two new applicants.
