HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-11 Park and Recreation Dept. Report1.pdfPark Report April 2011  Hockey boards are out of Bogert, with the first event held there this Saturday. The boards will be stored at the landfill.  The Parks’ division crew is in starting to amp up for the summer, prepping restrooms, equipment, etc…. If weather cooperates, will begin to work on infields for baseball and softball and start aerating turf. Picnic tables are being put out as well.  Crews are increasingly busy with dog stations, garbage and finishing up construction of garbage racks, picnic table repair, and park signage. Basically buttoning up the winter-related projects.  User groups are using city fields and facilities: Bronken (soccer), Aashiem, Kirk and Christie (baseball), N. Grand (girl’s fastpitch), The Complex (adult softball), Bogert Pavilion (Farmer’s Market)  We have been instructed to trim more out of our budgets- which we will start to look at tomorrow.  I am starting to collect some numbers on what it costs the Parks Division in regards to cleaning up dog feces- labor and supplies  We are in the beginning stages of attempting to develop an equitable way to assess user fees to the groups that use the cities fields and facilities. More than likely on a % basis per ticket or per player.  Ron and I had a meeting with GVLT today and we went over some active and upcoming projects, along with annual maintenance and trail improvements as well. 
