1. Park Parcel Inventory Internship
• Total number of park parcels verified =325
• Total park parcel acreage verified =752.96 acres
• Park parcels discovered as part of the process = 14
• Total acreage discovered = 3.68 acres
2. City of Bozeman GIS Park Inventory

• Provides basis for accomplishment of §9.1, Goal 10, Objective 4 of the PROST Plan:
Use GIS-based databases ofparkland and trailsfor planning and maintenance.
• Provides basis for accomplishment of §10.3.1 of the PROST:
Develop a GIS-based system to track park size, location, ownership, and intended use
where records are easy to retrieve and review for use in scheduling and conducting
maintenance.
• Top 5 benefits ofthe park parcel inventory according to Jon Henderson of the City of
Bozeman GIS department:
1. Provides access to recording document information regarding dedication,
chronology, and survey details.
2. Allows a "birds-eye-view" of each park and its surroundings using aerial
photography and the ability to generate length & area calculations.
3. Shows layout and context of parks within each subdivision, including open space
areas.
4. Lists a full inventory of amenities associated with each park.
5. Delivers up-to-date information for use in the field as well as planning for the
future.
• Information presentation to the City Commission on April 11, 2011.
3. Professional Paper Update
• Purpose is to provide policy recommendations to the City Commission for the creation
ofa special district for park maintenance in accordance with §10.12 of the PROST.
• Working with the City Parks & Recreation and Planning Departments to originate a
"consultants report" to be presented to the City Commission on April 25, 2011.
• Separate academic professional paper shall be presented to Montana State University
on April 28, 2011.
• Review and discussion of interview analysis to date.
