COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 3490
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, ADOPTING A NEW TRANSPORTATION PLAN KNOWN AS THE
GREATER BOZEMAN AREA TRANSPORTATION PLAN 2001 UPDATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman recognizes the public benefits from careful planning
of
future transportation improvements, and
WHEREAS, the City desires to cooperate and coordinate with other governmental agencies
in planning for transportation, and
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman, Gallatin County, and State of Montana Department
of
Transportation expressed their mutual intent to establish a coordinated transportation
plan through
a joint funding agreement; and
WHEREAS, the parties, acting as the Transportation Coordinating Committee, have
prepared a coordinated and cooperative transportation plan known as the Greater
Bozeman Area
Transportation Plan 2001 Update; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Coordinating Committee conducted a public hearing on
October 30, 2000, and further maintained a public comment period until May 4, 2001
to receive
and consider all relevant public testimony on the subject of transportation planning
in the Bozeman
area; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Coordinating Committee has made various modifications
to the draft plan to address concerns and suggestions elicited during the public
comment period,
and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Coordinating Committee accepted the final draft of
the
Greater Bozeman Transportation Plan 2001 Update at their meeting of May 23, 2001,
and
WHEREAS, the Section 76-1 ~601. M.C.A. sets forth certain requirements for the
preparation of a growth policy relating to the development of roads and bridges,
and
WHEREAS, the Greater Bozeman Area Transportation Plan 2001 Update fulfills this
requirement for the Bozeman area and is therefore incorporated into the proposed
Bozeman 2020
Community Plan, and
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman Planning Board is satisfied that the Greater Bozeman
Area
Transportation Plan 2001 Update is supportive of and an integral part of the proposed
Bozeman
2020 Community Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Greater Bozeman Area Transportation Plan 2001
Update provides
information and direction on future transportation needs in areas which are within
the planning
jurisdictional area of the Bozeman 2020 Community Plan, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission recognizes that at this time the City's planning
jurisdiction is limited to the municipal boundaries and that its adoption of the
Greater Bozeman Area
Transportation Plan 2001 Update does not bind the City to participate in construction
of
improvements outside of municipal boundaries, and
WHEREAS, the City of Bozeman desires to coordinate with Gallatin County and other
agencies through the planning of land use and transportation, and
WHEREAS, both the Bozeman 2020 Community Plan and the Greater Bozeman Area
Transportation Plan 2001 Update support the development of transportation systems
that integrate
multiple forms of transportation, and

WHEREAS, the adoption of the Greater Bozeman Area Transportation Plan 2001 Update
will advance desired public policy and provide increased clarity of direction in
policy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman,
Montana:
Section 1
That the transportation plan for the Bozeman Planning Area as prepared and submitted
by the Transportation Coordinating Committee by that document designated Greater
Bozeman Area
Transportation Plan 2001 Update, be and is hereby adopted as the Greater Bozeman
Area
Transportation Plan for the Bozeman Planning Area, superceding the 1993 Bozeman
Area
Transportation Plan Update.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, at
a regular session thereof held on the 22nd day of October, 2001.
