Steve,
The cost proposal you provided last week for the additional signing requested on the job is too
high for me to recommend approval of to the City. Marvin and Associates estimated that the
signs, with breakaway bases and coring required for the work should be about $500 each. Your
cost proposal of $3,150 each is several times this estimate and is unacceptable.
Please contact some other reputable signing subcontractors capable of completing this work
within a reasonable timeframe and submit a new cost proposal.
The City is looking at the additional thermoplastic centerline on Burke Street that needs to be
removed outside of the project limits and may do the work themselves. M keep you posted on
the status of this work.
We are planning on holding the project walkthru after our meeting this Thursday if the
Department of Transportation has someone availble to attend.

RE: North 19"' and Valley Center Road
Dear Jim,
Montana Lines and I have discussed the pricing for the seven signs that you would like to add to this
project. MTL has agreed to reduce their price provided we can start on the work no later than 1:00
pm on Thursday November 17 2005. This is necessary to eliminate one mobilization from their
pricing. Montana Lines has completed their work for this season and will finish demobilizing their
signing crew at the end of this week.
TD&H will need to provide the appropriate Sign Location and Specification Sheet for this work so
MTL can order the appropriate breakaway devices, posts and signs. TD&H will also need to give
sign locations early on the 17 so MTL can begin their work as soon as possible. If this extra work
cannot be authorized and started this soon we will need to adjust our pricing based on your proposed
schedule.

mobilization costs.
