Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Appointment to the Tree Advisory Board MEETING DATE: January 31, 2011 AGENDA TYPE: Action RECOMMENDATION: Appoint one new member to the Tree Advisory Board. BACKGROUND: The Tree Advisory Board has one ongoing vacancy. One new applicant has applied. Board members have reviewed the application and recommend her appointment. The Tree Advisory Board is created under Ordinance No. 1364, adopted by the City Commission on April 26, 1993, as codified in Chapter 2.92 of the Bozeman Municipal Code. The Board is comprised of five members appointed by the City Commission, serving staggered two-year terms. Whenever possible, two of the members shall be from the following disciplines: real estate, commercial lending, civil or environmental engineering, or landscape architecture or construction. Members shall be residents of the City, own property within the City, or be gainfully employed within the City. The Board is advisory to the Commission, providing guidance and advice regarding the City's tree program and developing a proposed arboricultural specification manual and any needed revisions. The Tree Advisory Board currently has one vacancy and one new applicant. Applying applicant: Jennifer Weiss ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. Attachment: Board Application 297
