The Contract is changed as follows:
Increase Contract Sum.
Reason for
Du installation of the radiant floor system inthe Shops building, radiant tubing was being run from the shops
to the manifold in the mechanical room via the center offices. It was noted that this installation would
significantly and adversely affect the center office spaces and the function of its heaflng zones. The manifolds
were re-located hmthe shop space, but because part of the slab had already been placed, the tubing had to be
split into two manifolds instead of one, Upon review of the process, it was discovered that the radiant installer
did not submit shop drawings, and that a review of shop drawings would have necessitated an alternate layout.
That alternate layout would have incurred some cost, but not the full cost the radiant installer was asking for the
work ao completed, The negotiated change reflects a significant reduction in the cost of the system aminstalled
due bo the lack nf shop drawings. (CP#37.5O%/5Q%split)
After seeing the mechanical penthouse units prov for the exhaust air mn the shop and bus barn spaces, it
was decided that the mechanical screens were not required, and the City Planning department allowed their
removal. (CP#47. 5096 /5094split)
As work in the mechanical room progressed, the space allotted for the air compressor began to interfere with
clearances at the furnaces and around the air compressor itself. Upon closer inspection of the layout and
equipment sizing, it was discovered that the air compressor was a total of 8" to 9" longer than the product data
provided. Also, due Loo previous change in fresh air supply to the mechanical room, new ducting further
impeded on the space allotted for the compressor. While this is a minor size change, the clearances in the
room were already an tight asto make placement ofthe air compressor difficult at best, and almost
unserviceable in the long run. (twas decided Ko mount the air compressor in the HRDC bus barn space
adjacent to the mechanical room, allowing easier access for any future maintenance of both the air compressor
and the furnaces in the mechanical room. (CP#51.1UOY6COB)
