Box 1230 ·Bozeman, MT·59771 Minutes of the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board October 14, 2010 Present: Board: William VandenBos, Sandy Dodge, Tawnya Storm, Bob Wade, Sue Henning, Terry Baldus, Julie Zickovich, Jared Nelson, Chris Guy City: Ron Dingman, Carole Brennan Meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by William VandenBos. Minutes: Minutes of the 09 September 2010 meeting were approved. Terry Baldus made the motion and Bob Wade seconded. Public Comment: Kathy Brown (Bozeman resident) speaking for the Friends of the Bozeman Swim Center expressed several concerns regarding the management and operation of the Swim Center, as well as the recent locker room remodel. Kathy submitted a letter from the 9:15 Water Aerobics Class Members detailing their concerns. Committee Reports: Subdivision Review Sandy Dodge. Meadow Creek: Sandy Dodge provided an update on discussions between Tom Fink and Dave Skelton regarding the parkland. The subdivision review committee will meet with Tom Fink to discuss their plans. No report. Gallatin Valley Land Trust: Ted Lange was not present. Ron Dingman reported for Ted. Issues brought up included: Repaving Gallatin Trail where it gets flooded Developing natural playground on east side of Langhor th October 20 is the 20 year anniversary of GVLT Hired new director (Penelope Pierce) Recreation Division Report Carole Brennan Hiring a recreation leader I and recreation leader II Hiring two seasonal recreation I/ice skating instructors Jamie Saitta, recreation manager to MPAR Conference in West Yellowstone last week New front sign at swim center New Siemens chemical controller at swim center Fall classes and swim lessons in full swing Swim team has grown from 76 to 130 in the last six months Synch swim has gone from 12 to 26 in the last six months Adult recreation fee proposal (see below) The adult recreation fee proposal generated a considerable amount of discussion and Ron Dingman decided that the proposal needed to be reworked and brought back to the board for endorsement. An adult recreation fee would be charged to adult programs such as Kick Ball to help support the adult program and other programs. Parks Division Report Thom White See attachment Ron Dingman Ron has been spending much of his time working with CTEP. Proposed CTEP projects will be presented to the commission by mid-December. November meeting cancellation Motion to cancel the 11 November meeting was made by Sue Henning and seconded by Terry Baldus. Motion approved. The meeting was cancelled because it FYI Julie Zickovich and Jared Nelson thanked the city for supporting the Montana State cycling club and GAS cycling club race at the East Gallatin Recreation Area. Ron Dingman wanted to know how and where the general public might rent skates. He is looking for input in this area. Meeting adjourned at 8:27 p.m.
