Park Report September 2010
Operationally, the crews are very busy with park operations. Mowing,
aerating, doing the garbage and dog station runs, inspecting
playgrounds, trial repair are examples of what is happening in the field.
Plus, it should be noted, we are down to five seasonals, so this tends to
be an extremely busy time of year.
A couple projects of note: The Depot Park is finished, complete with their
state of the art climbing boulder. IT was dedicated along with the boulder
at the East Gallatin Recreation Area. Speaking of the EGRA, the new
sand volleyball pits are complete, and the Rotary Club is in the process
of constructing a plaza area on the west end of the new building. Once
the irrigation system is repaired, this will be an unbelievable area with all
the improvements. At Rose Park, the parking lot is being built by an avid
folfer, who has taken this project on for an engineering class at MSU. The
restroom/storage building at Christie is really going to be nice. It is so
needed- so if you get a chance- take a drive around and take a look at
some of these projects our community is doing for us-
As of now, we still do not have a budget that has been approved by the
commission. I believe it is on the agenda for Monday. We did have to go
back in and offer up more cuts. We chose the CIP irrigation system for
the Mansion. That is a can’t win situation for us.
The Park tour is on hold, frankly we have been very busy and we don’t
have an approved budget- and even then- the money would be better
spent elsewhere.

Run Dog Run was commission approved on the 23 of Aug- with an
amendment of a user agreement in place. Recall that Run Dog Run is the
single use exercise areas.
