City Commission meeting about Willson and College intersection will occur October 4
with a presentation by MDT regarding round-about vs. traffic light options.
Rebecca will check on whether she can go and email us about it.
John will check on timeline for West College shared use path construction to report at
October meeting.
There was discussion of staying in touch with visitors to BABAB meetings. We agreed to
set up a contact list on our Google account, a BABAB friends group, and send minutes to
all of them. The BABAB email address is bozemanbikeboard@gmail.com
Rebecca had a meeting with Dan Stevenson at MSU who’s developing a climate action
plan. WTI will help MSU come up with a CAP (climate action plan).

7:00 Bicycle Benefits Update Rebecca G
Chad reported on his progress via email – a lot of the businesses don’t want to sell
stickers (Baker ran into this as well). BABAB makes more money if we sell them directly.
We should think about additional venues for selling them.
In contacting the businesses, it’s best to go in person, and preferably approach the
business when they’re slow.
Baker visited a few businesses and found it hard to get hold of someone who can make
decisions.
We need to provide businesses via email, information about where customers can buy
stickers.
Continuing the Bicycle Benefits program will require every BABAB member to be
persistent.
7:10 Letter to City RE: Babcock/Mendenhall Streets Elizabeth B
Elizabeth announced that Ralph Zimmer of the Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Committee
reported that Rick Hixson made it clear to Ralph that both BABAB and the PTSC would
have representation on both the consultant selection committee and the project
oversight committee. Elizabeth agreed to write a note of thanks to Rick (rather than a
request to do just that which is what had been on the agenda). This was completed
10/4/10.
7:15 Parking and Snow Removal Policy Elizabeth B
John VanDelinder explained that a new “reverse-911” is being set up in the city which, if
citizens sign up, will make it possible for the City Streets Department to notify
neighborhoods when the snowplows will be coming down their streets. The hope would
be that when they’re informed, they’ll choose whenever possible to move their vehicles
off the named streets. Trying to create an enforceable city ordinance about this would
require substantial expenditure on signage for every block of the city (when the city is
already sign-laden) and so BABAB agreed that this voluntary approach might be the best
bet. BABAB agreed to find a way to conduct a sign-up campaign (as sign-up will be
voluntary) to get as many residents as possible to cooperate, in part in order to create
greater safety on plowed roads for winter bicyclers. BABAB recommended to Mr.
VanDelinder that as much as possible the plowing system make it feasible for people
who have no off-street parking to move their vehicles just a short way – preferably
across the street, or second-best, around the nearest corner.
