SUBJECT: 2008 Lamme Water Main Replacement Project – Change Order No. 1.
MEETING DATE: November 1, 2010
AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent.
RECOMMENDATION: Motion and vote to approve and authorize City Manager to sign 2008
Lamme Water Main Replacement Project – Change Order No. 1.
BACKGROUND: Attached is a copy, of change order number 1 for the above referenced
project. The water service at Hawthorne School had to be replaced as part of the project because
it was found to be an old lead service. Although there was a unit price to cover replacement of
water service lines in the contract, this installation was almost entirely under concrete. This was
above and beyond what was contemplated by the unit priced item. The change is only for the
replacement cost of the concrete. No change in contract time is being provided with this change.
The Substantial and Final Completion Contract Times are not changed. The final recommended
increase in cost and time extension for this change is reasonable and commensurate with the
work involved.
UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The project bid was $411,155.00 under the budget, so even with this
change, the project will still be well within budget.

COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 4297
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, APPROVING ALTERATION/MODIFICATION OF CONTRACT
WITH OMDAHL EXCAVATION & UTILITIES, INC., BOZEMAN, MONTANA.
WHEREAS, the City Commission did, on the 28th day of July 2008, authorize award of the bid for
the 2008 Lamme Water Main Replacement project, to Omdahl Excavation & Utilities, Inc., Bozeman,
Montana; and
WHEREAS, Section 7-5-4308, Montana Code Annotated, provides that any such alterations or
modifications of the specifications and/or plans of the contract be made by resolution; and
WHEREAS, it has become necessary in the prosecution of the work to make alterations or
modifications to the specifications and/or plans of the contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman,
Montana, that the proposed modifications and/or alterations to the contract between the City of Bozeman, a
municipal corporation, and Omdahl Excavation & Utilities, Inc., as contained in Change Order No. 1, attached
hereto, be and the same are hereby approved; and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
execute the contract change order for and on behalf of the City; and the City Clerk is authorized and directed
to attest such signature.
