FROM: Josset Gauley, Grants Coordinator
Anna Rosenberry, Finance Director
Chris Kukulski, City Manager
SUBJECT: Authorize City Manager to sign contract Professional Services Agreement
with Advanced Insulation Solutions Inc., for insulation at the T.B. Story Mansion.
MEETING DATE: August 9, 2010
AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize City Manager to sign contract Professional Services
Agreement with Advanced Insulation Solutions Inc., for insulation at the T.B. Story Mansion.
BACKGROUND: Montana House Bill 645, the Montana Reinvestment Act, provided
approximately $3.6 million for the preservation of historic sites in Montana through the creation
of the Historic Preservation Competitive Grant Program. The City of Bozeman requested and
was approved $24,334 for a project to insulate the attic, porch, and second and third stories in the
Story Mansion.
The City accepted these grant funds on June 21, 2010. Advanced Insulation Solutions, Inc. was
selected by the City to perform all insulation services described in the grant. Signature of the
Professional Services Agreement will allow insulation work to begin, with an estimated
completion date of September 2010.
Insulation of the T.B. Story Mansion is predicted to reduce the building’s current heating costs
by 30 to 40 percent. In addition, insulation of the historic property significantly contributes to
long-term building preservation, and will help ameliorate problems of condensation that
currently cause deterioration of the building’s roof.
FISCAL EFFECTS: Signature of the contract will release $24,334 in project funding.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
