SUBJECT: Reappointments to the Community Alcohol Coalition
MEETING DATE: August 2, 2010
RECOMMENDATION: Reappoint two members to the Community Alcohol Coalition.
BACKGROUND: This Coalition currently has three terms which expired on June 30, 2010. In
addition, there is one ongoing vacancy for a Montana State University student, and an ongoing
vacancy for someone within the hospitality industry. Two of the three members with expiring
terms are reapplying. The member who has chosen not to reapply was a non-hospitality local
business representative. If reappointed, the new term expiration date for these applicants would
be June 30, 2013.
The Community Alcohol Coalition was created under Commission Resolution No. 3611, based
on a recommendation from the Bozeman Alcohol Policy Advisory Council. The Coalition
consists of up to 15 members to be appointed by the City Commission. A majority of the
members shall be residents of the city. Members shall be appointed so that the membership shall
be as follows:
3 Hospitality Industry Representatives,
2 Members of Law Enforcement, one from the Bozeman Police Department and the other from
the Sheriff's Office, Montana Highway Patrol, or Montana State University,
2 Prevention Specialists,
1 MSU Student,
1 MSU Faculty or Staff Member,
1 Bozeman High School Student,
1 Bozeman School District Representative,
1 Medical Community Representative,
1 Non-Hospitality Local Business Representative,
1 Neighborhood Association Representative, and
1 Interested Citizen (who may or may not qualify in another capacity).
Except for students who serve a 1-year renewable term, members shall serve 3-year staggered
terms unless otherwise specifically noted, with terms to expire on June 30.

PLEASE NOTE: Per Ordinance No. 1759, revising Chapter 2.01 of the Bozeman Municipal
Code, all board members are required to attend a yearly ethics workshop provided free of charge
by the City as a condition of service as a member of a board.

enforcement; prevention specialist; MSU student; MSU staff or faculty member; Bozeman High School
student; Bozeman School District representative; medical community representative; non-hospitality
local business representative; neighborhood association representative; or interested citizen who may or
