Item # 1— Call meeting to order:
0 Chairperson Keck called the meeting to order at 12:00p.m.
Item #2 — Review meeting agenda:

Item #3 - Approve March 17, 2010 meeting minutes — Action Item:
a No changes were requested,
Motion: Boardmember Misner motioned to approve the March 17, 2010 minutes as presented.
Boardmember Walters seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously.
Item #4 —Open Public Comment:.
Joey KnappenbeLger student Lon School
O Longfellow School had contacted City Forester Ryon Stover regarding a hazardous Willow Tree
in their playground. The tree was deemed a hazard and was removed by a private company
during spring break.
• Some Longfellow School students, led by Mr. Knappenberger, decided to start a fund raiser to
purchase and plant a tree where the Willow had been removed.
• The students researched several trees creating a spreadsheet of pros and cons of 6 trees which
they presented it to the School Principal.
• The goal was to raise enough money to purchase and plant the tree on Arbor Day; they have
raised $350.40 thus far.
• The City Forestry Department has agreed to help and will plant the tree April 30th
Item #5 — New Business:
A) Arbor Da -- Approve PSA if complete —Action Item:
• Chairperson Keck and Boardmember Engler recorded a PSA regarding Arbor Day and read how
it will sound on the radio.
® Once the PSA is approved .. it will go out on KGLT
Motion: Boardmember Walters motioned to approve the Arbor Day PSA as read..
Boardmember Misner seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously.
B) Street Tree Master Plan — review draft outline:
0 Chairperson Keck and Boardmember Engler are on the Street Tree Master Plan subcommittee.
• Chairperson Keck will email the draft copy nf the plan presented at the meeting to each board
member. It is requested that each board member go over the draft and make Changes or add
suggestions and then email the changed document t0 both subcommittee members by May 5th
.
• The official name of the document should be taken directly from the City Ordinance,
• Hazardous Tree Removal should be mentioned in the plan.
C) Report from Townsend Tree Board Retreat:
• Chairperson Keck attended the Townsend Tree Board Retreat and said it was @ worthwhile and
good experience.
• The Townsend Tree Board is very active and always working on projects and applying for grants,
They have taken out 100 hazardous trees,
a The Retreat provided information on fund raising, which this board may be interested in doing.
D\ Discuss fundraising options:
• Superintendent Van Delinder provided a copy of Resolution #4246 authorizing the Bike Board
tn raise funds and what the process would bein allocating those funds. If the Tree Board
decided to pursue fund raising a similar resolution would go before the City Commission.
• All purchases would have to follow the Cities Purchasing Policy.
• It would also be possible to allocate funds in the Forestry Department Budget for Tree Board

• Boardmember Engler will reapply.

• Kyle Bajakian may be interested in applying, he will check into it with the City Clerk's office,
Item #6 — Old Business:
Al Distribution and promotion of new Tree Guide:
0 It was requested that the City of Bozeman homepage have a link to the Tree Guide,
• It was also requested that copies of the Tree Guide be sent to Deputy City Clerk Aimee Kissel to
be distributed to each ofthe City Commissioners.

B\ Cost Share Program — this year's,species:
• The list of species available this year was prov about Y4of the trees have sold,
• The Tree Replacement Voucher program was also discussed,
[\ Arbor Day —Tree planting locations:
City Forestry Crews will help Longfellow School plant the tree they purchased.
No other location has been decided on yet, they will plant though.
There was some discussion that more tree education should be coming from the board.
Only the bulleted item was discussed.

• Superintendent Van De|indersaid that the city looked into grants for the Bozeman Creek and
found that B6a city vve are not eligible for any mfthem.
• He also mentioned that the Bozeman Creek is not all on public land, some of it is on private
property because 8f where the property runs.

The next meeting date is set for May 19, 2010 from noon to 1prn to be held in the Madison Room
upstairs at City Hall, 121 N. Rouse Ave.
Motion: Boardmember Engler motioned to adjourn the meeting at 1:00.
Boardmember Walters seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously.
