SUBJECT: Reappointment to the Tree Advisory Board

RECOMMENDATION: Reappoint Shelly Engler on the Tree Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND: The Tree Advisory Board has two terms that expired on June 30, 2010 with
new terms expiring June 30, 2012. One board member has reapplied and no new applicants have
been received. Ms. Engler meets the membership criteria since she lives within the city and is a
landscape architect.
The Tree Advisory Board is created under Ordinance No. 1364, adopted by the City Commission
on April 26, 1993, as codified in Chapter 2.92 of the Bozeman Municipal Code. The Board is
comprised of five members appointed by the City Commission, serving staggered two-year
terms.
Whenever possible, two of the members shall be from the following disciplines: real estate,
commercial lending, civil or environmental engineering, or landscape architecture or
construction.
Members shall be residents of the City, own property within the City, or be gainfully employed
within the City.
The Board is advisory to the Commission, providing guidance and advice regarding the City's
tree program and developing a proposed arboricultural specification manual and any needed
revisions.
The Tree Advisory Board currently has two expired terms and one member re-applying.
