Mary Cloud B. Ammons, Chair of the InterNeighborhood Council
(INC)
Mary Cloud B. Ammons received her bachelors in biology from the University
of Colorado in Boulder and her doctorate in Molecular Biology at Montana
State University By training, Mary Cloud is a molecular immunologist and is
interested in host-pathogen interactions. She is currently a research scientist
at Montana State University. For Mary Cloud conservation and civic duty
were instilled in her from a young age by her parents. Raised on a farm and
responsible for planting, tending, and harvesting her own food sources on high plains desert,
Mary Cloud learned the essential components of food source conservation: hard work and
dedication. Civic responsibility was fostered in Mary Cloud from years of attending her father's
county planning commission meetings. Mary Cloud serves as the Vice President of the North
East Neighborhood Association and Chair of the InterNeighborhood Council.
Kevin Barre, Assistant Facilities Services Director, Bozeman
Public Schools
Kevin Barre is a registered electrical engineer in the state of California and
has BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering. He retired from the U.S.
Navy Civil Engineer Corps with a background in public works management
and facilities contracting. He later was the Director, Facilities Planning and
Management for Long Beach Unified School District, in Long Beach,
California. He is currently the Assistant Facilities Director/Owner's
Construction Representative for Bozeman Public Schools where his primary
responsibility is to oversee all of the new school construction and
renovation projects.
Scott Bischke, Citizen-at-Large
Scott Bischke, principal at MountainWorks Inc., is a consulting Chemical
Engineer. Scott has worked as a research scientist for three national
laboratories, and as lead environmental engineer for a Hewlett-Packard
division. In the latter capacity, Scott headed HP company efforts to reduce
global warming gas emissions associated with electronics manufacturing
operations (most notably PFCs). Scott is an MSU graduate with an MS from
the University of Colorado. His professional work includes science writing
and meeting facilitation--more and more often these days centered on
climate change issues. Along with Otto Pohl, Scott co-chaired the citizens'
group that wrote Bozeman's Municipal Climate Action Plan.
Jeff Butler, Director of Facilities Operations and Maintenance,
Montana State University
Jeff Butler is the Director of Facilities Operations and Maintenance at
Montana State University, a Land-Grant institution comprised of roughly 5
million gross square feet of academic and auxiliary space, providing service
to over 12,000 students and approximately 3,000 staff and faculty on a
1,100 acre campus. Jeff is a graduate of MSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in
Construction Engineering, the APPA Institute for Facilities Management
(1997), the APPA Professional Leadership Academy (2003), and obtained his
Masters of Construction Engineering Management from MSU in May of
2003.
Lee Hazelbaker, Director HRDC/Streamline/Galavan
A native Montanan, Lee is a retired educator who has lived in the Gallatin
Valley for ten years. He has been the Director of Galavan/Streamline for the
Human Resource Development Council for four years. His interest in being on
the committee is the reduction of our carbon footprint as it relates to
transportation and more specifically public transportation.
Mel Kotur, Community Relations Manager, NorthWestern
Energy
Mel Kotur is the Manager of Community Relations for NorthWestern
Energy's Bozeman Division. Mel has 30 years of experience in the energy
industry, starting his utility career with the Montana Power Company in
1980. During that time, Mel has worked extensively in energy conservation
and has helped to develop and implement utility energy conservation and
efficiency programs. Mel and his wife, Kim, moved to Bozeman in 1983 and
have two grown children.
Anders Lewendal, Chairman Southwest Montana Building
Industry Association (SWMBIA)
Anders Lewendal moved to Bozeman in 1991 and owns Anders
Lewendal Construction, Inc. Anders became involved in sustainability in
the early 1980's working for a large commercial recycling company and
then composting for the City of San Francisco. Anders earned a general
B professional builder’s certification from the California State License Board
in 1987 and retains that certification. Currently, Anders is active organizing
the Green Building Committee for SWMBIA, is a board member of SWMBIA
and its 2010 Chairman. Anders continues to study and produce safe,
efficient, and affordable residences in Bozeman. Anders is also an NAHB Certified Green
Professional and lives on the North side of town in a remodeled 100 year old Energy Star
Certified home.
Commissioner Bill Murdock, Gallatin County Commissioner
Commissioner Murdock has been a Gallatin County Commissioner for eleven
years. He and his wife, Maggie, of 39 years have three children – Wyn (&
Brian), Pete and Leigh. Their family has grown with the births of their
grandchildren Addison and Alexander. Bill has been a resident of Gallatin
County 39 years. He was the Executive Director of the Big Sky Owners’
Association (BSOA) for seven years and owned a ski-shop in Bozeman for
twelve. Prior to becoming a Commissioner, Bill was a Gallatin County planner
for five years. Commissioner Murdock was instrumental in the creation of
the County’s Open Lands Board and is an advocate for county planning. He is an avid cross-
country skier, runner and rock- and ice-climber. He loves the outdoors and Greater
Yellowstone ecosystem.
Chris Naumann, Executive Director Downtown Bozeman
Partnership
Chris Naumann became the Executive Director of the Downtown Bozeman
Partnership in May of 2007. In 1995, Chris and his wife, Laura, owned and
operated Barrel Mountaineering, an outdoor store located in historic downtown
Bozeman, from 1995 until 2009. Born in Evanston, Illinois and raised in Jefferson
City, Missouri, Chris received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Geologic Sciences in
1991 from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. After several mountain
adventures in Asia, Chris settled in Bozeman back in 1993.
Daryl Nourse, Chamber of Commerce
Daryl is a representative for the Chamber of Commerce and is currently a
project manager for the Reid Smith Architecture firm located in Bozeman.
He received his LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
accreditation in 2006 and has the third LEED GOLD New Construction (NC)
building in the state. He graduated from MSU in 2006 with a Masters in
Architecture. Aside from his profession, he is an avid runner, skier,
snowboarder and enjoys the Montana outdoors.
Otto Pohl, Citizen-at-Large
Otto Pohl is an entrepreneur and journalist. He has written for the New
York Times for many years, filing from over fifteen countries. Other
publications that have featured his work include Men’s Journal, The
International Herald Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, and New York
Magazine. He has received both Fulbright and Pew journalism fellowships.

founded three companies in Moscow, Russia, two of which Pohl sold to
Eastman Kodak. Back in the US, he worked as director of business development at online photo
company Snapfish and has consulted for companies investing in Eastern Europe. He has just
sold his most recent venture, the organic clothing company Swell Foop. Along with Scott
Bischke, Otto co-chaired the citizens' group that wrote Bozeman's Municipal Climate Action
Plan. He speaks German and Russian fluently and lives in Bozeman with his wife, two cats, and
five chickens.
Dawn Smith, U.S. Green Building Council Green Schools
Committee
Dawn graduated form the Fort Lewis College in Durango Colorado. She is a
member of the USGBC Montana Chapter of Green Building Schools
Committee, the Bozeman Planning Board, and a past member of the
Bozeman Design Review Board. For the past four years, she has been
working in commercial and residential development and design review. She
completed a renovation and energy retrofit for the Cottonwood Elementary
in accordance with the Build Green Schools program funded through the
Quick Start Stimulus Funds.
John Vincent, Citizen-at-Large
John Vincent was elected to the Montana Public Service Commission in 2008.
His current term ends in January 2013. John graduated from Seattle
University with honors in American Government in 1970. He attended
another year at Seattle University to obtain his teaching certification. He has
earned three years of post graduate credit by attending both the University
of Montana and Montana State University. John has also taught government
at Montana State as an adjunct instructor. John served in the following
offices and positions: Montana House of Representatives, 1975-90; Majority
Whip, 1979-80; Majority Leader, 1983-84; Speaker of the House, 1985-86;
Minority Leader, 1987-88; Speaker of the House, 1989-90.Bozeman City Commissioner, 1992-
95; Bozeman Mayor, 1994-95.Gallatin County Commissioner, 2001-2006; Chairman 2003, 2004,
and 2006.
LeRoy D. Wilson, Director Facilities Services Bozeman
Deaconess Hospital
LeRoy D. Wilson works at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital as a Director of
Facility Services. Since 1986 he has also worked for Management and
Maintenance, Inc. and Covenant Retirement Communities where his jobs
have included Property Management and Health Care Administration. In
his current role, as Director of Facility Services, LeRoy is responsible for
the day-to-day operation of the Engineering, Bio-Medical and
Environmental Services at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. These duties
combined with his special interest in creating a “Greener Work
Environment” provide for many new and exciting adventures. LeRoy lives off of Springhill Road
with his wife Wendy Wilson and their two black labs Dallas and Sadie. When not working LeRoy
likes to fish, hunt, and camp with his wife, dogs and grandkids. LeRoy can be reached at
