Citizens meet at Bogert Partk at 8:30am for supplies, maps, coffee and snacks. The day was g,ranted favorable weather and a huge public turnout. Groups, families, individuals and man's best friend arrived ea r y to establish their route, fetch some coffee and head out to attack the trash, in the meantime, locals were provided the opportunity to one powered solely by human energy, As Senator Nelson recalled, "Earth Day worked because of the spontaneous response at the grassroots levelL VVe had neither the time nor resources to organ• ize 20 million demonstrators and the thousands of schools and local communities that participated.
