RE: Laurel Glen Subdivision Park Master Plan
Dear Mr. Hinesley,
Enclosed please find a signed copy of the Park Master Plan for Laurel Glen Subdivision for your
records and files.
Also enclosed is a copy of the current “Design Guidelines for City of Bozeman Parks” prepared by the
City Parks Department to assist developers with new improvements proposed with public parks. These
guidelines include all applicable ASTM, CPSC, and ADA guidelines and specifications for public
parkland improvements.
On March 22, 2010 the Bozeman City Commission approved the Park Master Plan for Laurel Glen
Subdivision so it may be used as the guiding principal for any and all future improvements to those
areas planned for public parklands in Laurel Glen Subdivision.
As you advised the subdivision committee of the Recreation Park Advisory Board (RPAB) at our
meeting of March 19, 2010; you plan to proceed with parkland improvements on your own time
schedule in-lieu of the one-year time frame set forth with preliminary plat approval of Laurel Glen
Subdivision, Phase 3 & 4. With that in mind the Department of Planning and Community
Development, City of Bozeman Parks Department, and City of Bozeman Recreation and Parks
Advisory Board respectfully request that any improvements that you proceed with will comply with
the design guidelines for City of Bozeman parks. Keep in mind that this would not only be in the best
interest of you as a developer, but also for the residents of the subdivision, their guests, and the general
public of our community.
Please note that there are no pending City actions related to the major subdivision that would prevent
you from proceeding with parkland improvements in advance of filing a final plat(s) for Laurel Glen
Subdivision. There is currently no restriction on the subject property that limits you from advancing
any parkland improvements prior to future phases of Laurel Glen Subdivision. However, to potentially
receive credit for future dedicated public parkland it is imperative that you follow the design guidelines
and specifications for City of Bozeman public parks. Most importantly you should have your
consultant keep a good record that provides proper documentation of the installation of those
improvements, including any as-built drawings that may be necessary. If you follow the enclosed park
master plan for the subdivision as approved by the City Commission it will be a useful tool.

On behalf of the City Parks Department and the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board we would
welcome the opportunity to visit with you in advance of installing any park improvements for residents
of the subdivision to insure that you will have the potential to receive credit for future dedicated public
parkland requirements.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me at the Planning Office at (406) 582-2260 or e-
mail at dskelton@bozeman.net.
