Ken Tiahrt will continue as chairperson in 2010, and regular meetings will continue monthly at 1:15 pm on the first Wednesday of the month. The plan to prepare senior viewpoints on various issues that are related to city business was accepted as a goal for 2010. Such viewpoints can be held as information for the city manager and city commission to use as reference when such issues come before them. Members of the Senior Advisory Board will bring their individual list of issues to our next Board meeting. A few things brought up on March 3 included handicapped wheelchair availability in public buildings, senior parking only locations downtown, left turn lanes at major intersections, pedestrian safety at street crossings, general confusion related to information on health care options for seniors, city park amenities specifically for seniors, and priorities for maintenanceand repair of city streets, as related to senior cautionary driving habits. It is expected that moreissues will be added to this list and they will be addressed in order of urgency.
