HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-2011 Certified Logal Government Grant Contract with Historic Office.pdfCommission Memorandum Report compiled on February 24, 2010 REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor & City Commission FROM: Courtney Kramer, Assistant Planner SUBJECT: Bozeman Certified Local Government Grant Contract for 2010-2011 MEETING DATE: Monday, March 1, 2010 RECOMMENDATION: That the City Commission approves the Mayor to sign the Bozeman Certified Local Government Grant Contract for 2010-2011. BACKGROUND: This is a consent item for the Mayor’s signature on the Bozeman Certified Local Government Grant Contract for 2010-2011. The Montana State Historic Preservation Office awarded a grant in the amount of $5,500 to fund historic preservation staff and efforts in Bozeman. On Tuesday, January 19, 2010 the Bozeman City Commission consented to the mayor’s signature of Bozeman’s application for a 2010-2011 Certified Local Government grant, awarded from the Montana State Historic Preservation Office. The $5,500 is a matching fund grant, for which the City of Bozeman exceeds the match by funding the salaries of two historic preservation staff members. The $5,500 funds a portion of salaries as well as preservation outreach and education events like seminars for professionals in historic preservation, “Preservation Days”, walking tours, and the annual excellence in historic preservation awards. As an agreement of the contract, historic preservation planning staff submits a quarterly report to the SHPO, detailing activities the Historic Preservation Board has sponsored and the funds used for those activities. FISCAL EFFECTS: The Department of Planning, which administers the Bozeman Historic Preservation Office, is not aware of any unresolved issues for the proposed development at this time.
