SUBJECT: Appointment to the Gallatin Local Water Quality District Board

RECOMMENDATION: Appoint one new member to the Gallatin Local Water Quality
District Board.
BACKGROUND: The Gallatin Local Water Quality District Board currently has one
vacancy for a City of Bozeman at-large representative term which expires September 30, 2011.
One new applicant has applied.
In 1991, the Montana Legislature passed a new law giving local governments the authority to
form local water quality districts. The Gallatin Local Water Quality District was created by
Resolution No. 1995-55 of the Gallatin County Commission, and approved by the Montana
Board of Environmental Review in 1997. The focus of the Gallatin Local Water Quality District
is on water resources education and water quality monitoring for increased awareness of water-
related issues and public health.
This Board has one vacancy for a City of Bozeman at-large representative and one new
applicant.
