SUBJECT: Appointments to the Community Alcohol Coalition
MEETING DATE: February 8, 2010
RECOMMENDATION: Appoint two new members to the Community Alcohol
Coalition.
BACKGROUND: There are currently four vacancies on the Community Alcohol Coalition.
These include one position for a high school student, one for a law enforcement officer and two
for someone representing the hospitality industry. One new applicant has applied for the law
enforcement representation position with a term expiration of June 30, 2012, and one new
applicant has applied as a representative of the hospitality industry with a term expiration of June
30, 2011.
The Community Alcohol Coalition was created under Commission Resolution No. 3611, based
on a recommendation from the Bozeman Alcohol Policy Advisory Council. The Coalition shall
consist of 15 members to be appointed by the City Commission. A majority of the members
shall be residents of the city and fit into specific representative criteria.
The Community Alcohol Coalition currently has four vacancies and two applicants.
New Applicants:
Nicholas Guthneck (law enforcement)
Keith Hart (hospitality industry representative)
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.

PLEASE NOTE: Per Ordinance No. 1759, revising Chapter 2.01 of the Bozeman Municipal
Code, all board members are required to attend a yearly ethics workshop provided free of charge
by the City as a condition of service as a member of a board.
Applicants should apply as one of the following: hospitality industry representative; member of law
enforcement; prevention specialist; MSU student; MSU staff or faculty member; Bozeman High School
student; Bozeman School District representative; medical community representative; non-hospitality
local business representative; neighborhood association representative; or interested citizen who may or
may not qualify in another capacity.
