HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 4232, Change Order 5 for Landfill Addition.pdf Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: James Goehrung, Director of Facility Services Chuck Winn, Assistant City Manager SUBJECT: Approval of Change Order #5 for the Landfill Addition MEETING DATE: January 19, 2010 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to sign Change Order #5 for the addition of heat tape and installation of French drains for the downspouts on the Landfill Addition Building in the amount of $2,332.09 BACKGROUND: The original design for the building did not include heat tape in the building addition gutters. After experiencing some of the recent winter weather conditions the large expanse of roof, and the related run-off from the roof, causes the gutters to ice up. The run- off also exceeded the carrying capacity of the gravel landscaped beds between the building and the sidewalk where the gutters drain leading to ice build-up on the entrance sidewalks. To address this problem heat tape was added to control the icing and the area around the gutter downspouts was excavated and filled in with gravel for additional drainage. FISCAL EFFECTS: This additional work will be charged against the contingency fund for the project. Project Contingency $27,361.85 (following CO#1) Change order #3 – 5002 ($1,611.20) Smoke/Fire Dampers Change order #3 – 5008 ($677.60) Locker Room Changes Change order #3 – 5011 ($1,370.62) Snow Cleats and Heat Tape Outlet Change order #3 – 5012 Change order #5 - 5014 ($259.70) ($2,332.00 Electrical Changes in IT Closet Heat tape in gutters and French drains Remaining Contingency $21,110.73 53 Change Order #4 includes work required to paint the fire-rated protection wall used to protect the urethane insulation in the lower garage walls.
