HomeMy WebLinkAboutMeetings with Federal Delegation in Washington, DC.pdf Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Chris Kukulski, City Manager SUBJECT: Meetings with Federal Delegation in Washington, DC MEETING DATE: January 19, 2010 RECOMMENDATION: That the City Commission authorize the City Manager and Mayor (or an available City Commissioner) to schedule meetings in Washington, DC with each of Montana’s Federal Delegates and key staff. BACKGROUND: For each of the past two years the Mayor and I, accompanied by Amanda McInnis, HDR Engineer, have held meetings in Washington, DC to deliver our federal appropriations requests. I believe these trips have assisted the City in receiving federal support and dollars for our Water Reclamation Facility (WRF). If the Commission is supportive, we need to schedule our trip and meetings with Senator Baucus, Senator Tester and Representative Rehberg and their key staff, for late February or early March prior to the federal appropriations request deadlines. FISCAL EFFECTS: I would anticipate this year’s trip would cost between $2,500 and $3,000 (the 2008 trip cost $2,728.01 and the 2009 trip cost $2,262.68 for the Mayor and I). Because the trips were focused on the WRF, the sewer fund paid for the expenses. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. 205
