The Bozeman Area Bicycle Advisory Board (BABAB) was created by the City Commission in September 1990 (Resolution 2817). Its purpose is to recommend safe bicycle practices throughout
Bozeman in regard to enhanced bicycle circulation and design, community-wide bicycle education and safety programs, and other matters relating to bicycling in the Bozeman area.
As amended by Ordinance 1594, Chapter 2.98 in April 2003, the board shall consist of up to nine members who will serve two-2 year staggered terms. Each member may be reappointed without
any limitation on the number of reappointments. Persons must be of legal age.
A majority of the board shall be residents of the city. Non-resident members of the board shall have some interest in the city by virtue of working in the city, owning property in the
city, or entering the city frequently for any lawful purpose. In addition, the members should be knowledgeable of bicycling and/or traffic safety in the Bozeman area.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Providing advice and recommendations to the City Commission on matters which may have an impact on bicycling, insofar as it may relate to the usage of public streets and other public
ways by bicycles.
Providing suggestions and direction to the City Commission regarding bicycling issues pertaining to the Parks, Open Space and Trails Master Plans, and the Bozeman Urban Area Transportation
Plan.
The Board may also have other duties and responsibilities as directed by the City Commission.
