SUBJECT: Purchase and installation of a Versacourt tile tennis courts at Bogert Park
MEETING DATE: December 28, 2009
AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the city manager to sign a contract for the purchase and
installation of a Versacourt tile tennis court system over the existing courts at Bogert Park.
BACKGROUND: As part of the stimulus package (HB645), the city commission authorized
$90,000 for the renovation of the Bogert tennis courts on September 21, 2009. The Versacourt
system will be installed over the existing courts and the product comes with a 15 year warranty.
The alternative of an asphalt overlay and related surfacing, typically come with only a one or two
year warranty, depending on the general condition of the existing court.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The $90,000 (stimulus money from HB645) earmarked for the project will
cover the purchase and installation of the Versacourt system ($49,140.00) and all related fence
work ($23,000).City forestry, parks and street crews will do all the necessary prep work on the
courts.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
