SUBJECT: Acceptance of Commission Eric Bryson’s Resignation of the Office of
City Commissioner to be Effective at 11:59 p.m. on January 11, 2010. MEETING DATE: December 28, 2009
AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent (Please note: Commissioner Bryson should refrain from
participating in the vote on this consent agenda item.)
RECOMMENDATION: Accept Commissioner Eric Bryson’s resignation from the office of
Bozeman City Commissioner with an effective date of January 11, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. BACKGROUND: On December 7, 2009, during the FYI part of the agenda, Commissioner
Bryson informed you he accepted the position of County Administrator in Lewis and Clark
County. He informed you at that time he would begin work sometime in the middle of January,
2010. He also informed you he planned to submit a letter of resignation as soon as he established a timeline for work and moving. He has now done so.
On December 16, 2009, Eric Bryson formally submitted the attached letter of resignation. Upon
receipt of this letter, pursuant to Sect. 2-16-502(1), MCA, City Attorney Sullivan forwarded the
letter to the Montana Secretary of State and provided a copy to Charlotte Mills, Gallatin County Clerk and Recorder/Elections Administrator.
The purpose of this agenda item is for the Commission to formally accept the resignation and the
timeline established in the attached letter.
FISCAL EFFECTS: None directly related to the resignation.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
