REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR THE RECEIPT AND PROCESSING OF RECYCLABLE COMMODITIES
The City of Bozeman Solid Waste Division is seeking proposals from qualified vendors for the receipt and
processing of recyclable commodities generated through the Division's curbside recycling program. The
Division will deliver the commodities to the selected vendor and the vendor will then process and
market the commodities. The term of the successful contract will be three (3) years. The commodities
to be delivered are: plastics lthru #7; tin and aluminum cans; cardboard, including gray board; and
mixed paper, including newspaper, office paper and magazines.
The program has been averaging 13 deposits per month with the average load comprised of 1,563 lbs. of
paper, 742 lbs. of cardboard, 151 lbs. of cans, and 241 lbs. of plastics. The Division will receive 100% of
the commodity value based on a to- be- agreed upon market. The Division will pay for the transportation
and processing costs of the selected vendor.
Separate sealed proposals for the receipt and processing of recyclable commodities will be received by
the City of Bozeman, Montana at the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 121 North Rouse Avenue, PO Box
1230, Bozeman, MT 59771 until 1:00 p.m. local time on December 15, 2009 and then publicly opened
and read aloud.
The right is reserved to reject any or all proposals received, to waive informalities, to postpone the
award of the contract for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days, and to accept the lowest responsive and
responsible bid that is in the best interest of the Owner.
