SUBJECT: Resolution No. 4224 - Amending Commission Resolution No. 4206
(Appropriation Resolution) to include funding for Grants Specialist and Economic Development
Specialist Positions.

RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. 4224 - Amending Commission Resolution
No. 4206 (Appropriation Resolution)
BACKGROUND: On November 9, 2009, the Commission approved addition of 1.0 FTE for
a Grants Specialist and 1.0 FTE for Economic Development Specialist in the FY10 Budget Year.
Staff was directed to bring back the related revised Appropriation Resolution to fund these
positions.
Funding for these positions for the remainder of FY10 was proposed as follows:
Grants Position - $10,000 from Water Fund, plus $10,000 from Wastewater Fund
Economic Development Specialist - $27,500 from General Fund
FISCAL EFFECTS: The additional Grant Specialist is expected to cost approx. $40,000 per
year with the proposed funding being paid half by the water and half by the sewer enterprise
funds. In FY10, this is estimated to cost each fund $10,000 for the remainder of the year.
The Economic Development Specialist position is expected to cost approx. $55,000 per year
with the proposed funding coming from the City's General Fund. In FY10, this is estimated to
cost the General Fund $27,500 for the remainder of the year.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.

COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 4224
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 4206, ADDING
APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2010.
WHEREAS, the City Commission did, on the 22nd day of June, 2009, adopted the City
Manager’s Budget Recommendations for Fiscal Year 2009-2010 (Fiscal Year 2010) as the Preliminary
Budget; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission did, on the 28th day of September, 2009, after due and
proper legal notice, conduct a public hearing on the proposed municipal budget and the proposed
increase in taxes collected; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission did, on the 28th day of September, 2009, adopt Resolution
No. 4206 - APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR VARIOUS BUDGET UNITS, AND FURTHER
ESTIMATING REVENUE NECESSARY TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN SERVICES OF
MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2010; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission did, on the 23rd day of November, 2009, after due and
proper legal notice, conduct a public hearing on the proposed budget amendment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman,
Montana, to wit:
Section 1
The City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, does hereby authorize, in addition to
appropriations authorized previously, the following expenditures:

Budget Unit ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION
General Fund $27,500 Water Fund $10,000 Wastewater Fund $10,000 GRAND TOTAL – Additional Appropriations $47,500
Section 2
These additional appropriations will be paid from previously un-budgeted Fiscal Year 2009-2010
revenues in the General Fund, Water Fund, and Wastewater Fund.
Section 3
That should it be found by any court of competent jurisdiction that any section, clause, portion,
sentence, word, or phrase of this resolution is deemed to be contrary to any existing law or regulations,
that in this instance, it is the intent of the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, that all
other portions, sections, words, clauses, phrases, or paragraphs of this document shall remain in full
force and effect.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, at a
regular session thereof held on the 7th day of December, 2009.
