Bighorn Snow Removal Service, in consideration of your purchase and acceptance of this
contract, agrees to do your snow removal within a 24 hour period from the end of each snowfall
(unless another time frame has been specified and agreed upon).
Parking Lot and Driveway Plowing begins when snow reaches 2" or otherwise specified by
purchaser.
Sidewalks will be cleaned at 1" accumulation and/or in accordance with current City regulations
and standards.
Regular Plowing and Sidewalk Charges are billed on a per time basis for each time plowing of
increments up to 4" of accumulated snow. Please be aware that additional cost will be incurred
for heavier snowfalls and if it is necessary to plow more than once during a snowfall.
Heavy Snowstorms generally require plowing more than once and are charged for each plowing.
Plowing and cleaning sidewalks will occur on these occasions more than once in a 24 hour
period,
especially during 2 -3 day continuous snowstorms. Under certain weather conditions, snow
removal may be required due to drifting snow or melting slush followed by freezing and thawing.
Our desire is to accommodate our customers and meet your specific needs. Please contact me
prior to the start of the snow removal season to discuss and special needs or requests.
Snow Pile Hauling and Removal is done occasionally and is an additional expense.
This contract is effective from Oct 1, 2009 to May 1, 2010.

Bighorn Snow Removal Service will use the utmost care while plowing, however, our liability does not extend to any damages
incurred to property items hidden below the snow unless they are clearly marked, flagged and we have been informed prior to the
snow season. These items include grass edges, sprinkler heads, curbs, speed bumps, things protruding into the plow areas and
stored items. Our liability does not extend to any accidents due to locations of snow piles, or the existence of natural elements or
ice. Nor does it cover any damages to lawns and landscaping. in the event any notices are given by the city for current sidewalk
conditions, for us to remedy them these must be called into us in a timely manner at 406 -580- 2390.
Please make checks payable to BIGHORN SNOW REMOVAL,. Accounts are subject to a monthly 2% late payment fee if not

SUBJECT: Award of the FY 2009 2010 snow removal contract for City -owned
surface parking lots
MEETING DATE: November 2, 2009
AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to sign the contract with Bighorn Snow
Removal Service for snow removal services for fiscal year 2009 2010. The contract amount is
$375 per snow event.
The areas to be cleared are the city's surface parking lots and surrounding sidewalks: Rouse Lot
(northwest corner Babcock Rouse), Carnegie Lot (southeast corner Mendenhall Black),
North Willson Lot (southeast corner Willson Mendenhall) and Mendenhall Lot (northeast
corner Willson Mendenhall).
BACKGROUND: The city contracts for snow removal services for our city owned facilities.
The contract is a one -year contract. Once the contract is awarded, the service provider will
secure the required bonds and receive their notice to proceed.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The Parking Department budgeted $26,160 for snow removal on the city -owned
surface parking lots. At the contract amount, the budget will cover 17 snow events during the fiscal year.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission.
