RECOMMENDATION:
AppointonenewmembertotheDesignReviewBoard.
BACKGROUND:
A‘non-professional’positioniscurrentlyvacantontheDesign
ReviewBoard.Onenewapplicanthasappliedandperthepreferenceslistedforthisposition,
theapplicanthasknowledgeinthefieldofarchitecture.
TheDesignReviewBoardwascreatedunderSection18.62oftheBozemanMunicipalCode.
Membersareappointedtostaggeredtwo-yearterms. TheBoardischargedwiththedesign
reviewofcertainplansandproposalsandshouldbecomprisedofsixprofessionalandtwonon-
professionalmembers.Professionalmembersshouldbedegreedintheirrespectivedisciplines
and/orotherwiselicensedorcertifiedbytheirrespectiveprofessionalauthorities.Theyshall
include:
4Architects;
1Architecturalhistorian;
1Landscapearchitect/designer;
2Non-professionalmembers.
Atleastoneoftheprofessionalmembersshallhaveademonstratedexpertiseinurbandesign.
Thenon-professionalmembersshallhaveaninterestin,orknowledgeof,architecture,
urbandesign,orhistoricpreservation.
NomembershallserveasamemberoftheCity
PlanningBoardortheZoningCommissionconcurrently.TheBoardisgenerallyadvisorytothe
CityPlanningBoard,BoardofAdjustment,andtheCityCommission,althoughitdoesmakethe
finaldecisionsonsomeminorapplications.
Thereisonevacancy,withoneapplicant.
