HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-4-09 Senior Citizens Advisory Board Minutes
Minutes of the meeting held November 4, 2009
of Bozeman Senior Citizens' Advisory Board follow.
Members present were: Milly Gutkowski, Ted Mangun, Patty Phillips, Don Pierre, Frank Schledorn, and Eric
Bryson.
Members absent were: Charlotte Kress, and Ken Tiahrt. Ken was ill.
Meeting convened at 1:15 pm.
There were no members of the public present, so there were no public comments received.
We agreed that services listed on the 2009 Senior and Long Term Care Services Survey used as part
of the 2009 Governors Conference on Aging meeting are mostly covered in the Gallatin area.
The First Choice Home Health has its office at the Bozeman Lodge; it is not in the 2009 Senior
Source resource booklet as it is fairly new. The Bozeman Lodge has also recently provided lodging
to hospice.
We discussed city parks and Eric informed us that the City does not maintain new parks but the
maintenance is done by homeowners in the park area. Patty wondered why she got a bill for 170
dollars for boulevard maintenance when she is part of a condo association. Eric suggested she ask
her Association Board.
The question about parks being used for parking e.g.; Centennial Park south of the Senior Center
was raised. Parking for the Senior Center is not within the direct jurisdiction of the Bozeman
Senior Advisory Board, but could be considered as a special issue.
The City Commission will be discussing Willson and College Street regarding the responsibility
assigned to the State and to the City.
Frank brought up the fact that there is a city park behind Pilgrim Congregational Church; (which he
attends) it is essentially unknown to the public.
The Soroptimist Park will probably be dedicated soon and that will protect its status as a public
park.
There will not be a meeting in December and none is presently planned for January either unless
some new issue rises.
Meeting adjourned.
The next meeting will be February 3, 2010 at 1:15 pm in the Bozeman City Hall.
Prepared from notes taken by Milly.
